Oversized lines, cables, and pure wool characterize Haraboji, which will become a companion for life. You start by knitting the right sleeve, then continue toward the shoulder. Next, you knit the back and front pieces, then join the work and knit the left sleeve. The pattern includes both written instructions and diagrams.
When Karoline Skovgaard Bentsen was tasked with creating a design for Fremstrikk, it was the yarn that inspired her. She read articles about Fivel and Norwegian wool, and concluded that the best way to highlight the wool’s qualities was to use cables and textures. The pattern was named “Haraboji Cardigan,” which means “grandfather” in Korean, because it resembles a typical grandfather’s cardigan.
