Children’s striped jumper, knitted top-down in Tynn Merinoull: it offers lots of possibilities for colour combinations. 3 mm needles – tension: 27 stitches = 10 cm.
Stitches are cast on for the back, which is worked down to the underarms. Stitches are then picked up along each shoulder for the left and right sides of the front, then the neck stitches are cast on to join them and the front is worked down to the underarms. The back and front are joined and the body is worked in the round to the desired length, and finished with a facing. The sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round, and finished with a facing. The ribbed neckband is folded double to the wrong side. The body and sleeve lengths can be adjusted as you wish.
As Tynn Merinoull (100% merino, 175 m / 50 g) is not available at Laine et Tricot, we suggest two substitute yarns that are knitted on the same 3 mm needles at the same tension of 27 stitches = 10 cm: Tynn Peer Gynt (100% Norwegian wool, 205 m / 50 g) or Sisu (80% wool, 20% nylon, 175 m / 50 g). The quantities have been checked against the yardage.
The amount of yarn is based on the measurements shown. Allow extra yarn for a longer garment.
